Life At The Mansion: Former Playmates Speak Against Hefner’s Legacy

Controversy in the Playboy Community is not unheard of; after all, we have it to thank for the revolution of America’s attitude towards sex. Behind the fantasy, however, dark secrets began coming to light five years ago from people who worked closely with the founder Hugh Hefner. Even former playmates came forward against the late Hefner and exposed the reality of life at the Mansion.

1. Holly Madison

Not necessarily a player, Holly got candid about her residence at the Mansion in April 2021. On her appearance at the ”Call Her Daddy” podcast, she mentioned Hefner did not allow her to move into the Mansion until she slept with him. Admittedly, she added that she had to make something out of her situation, although it went beyond her boundaries.

2. Kendra Wilkinson

Years after speaking highly of her ex-boyfriend Hefner and her experience at the mention, Kendra later detailed in her memoir how much she dreaded her life at the Mansion. Moving into the house right after high school, Kendra found herself switching out the rules back home for stricter regulations and stuck with a 78-year-old boyfriend.

3. Bridget Marquardt

After exiting the Mansion in 2009, the third found her way back into the Mansion in 2018, where Hefner told her she was welcomed back anytime. However, in the docuseries Secrets of Playboy, the ex-bunny supported Madison’s claim on Hef’s behavior towards her and its impact on her emotionally.

4. Sondra Theodore

Best known as July 1977 Playboy’s Playmate and the media mogul girlfriend for five years since 1976, Sondra claimed people were paid off and blackmailed. Comparing him to Charles Manson, she pointed out Hefner’s manipulative nature that had all the girls in the Mansion blindly following everything he said.

5. Carla Howe

Living on and off in the Mansion for four years, the model described life at the mansion-like ”being in prison. In an interview with The Sun in 2015, she pointed out the 9 pm curfews, strict code of conduct, and the no-visitors rule. “If you break the rules, you get banned,” she said. Both she and her sister Mellisa shared the sentiment, as she stated there were rules, and breaking them threatened your stay at the Mansion.
