Mc Greeney, Aka Jesse Williams’ Departure from Grey’s Anatomy

Season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy has been such a rollercoaster, and the departure of a particularly handsome doctor is one twist fans did not see coming. After 12 good years of giving us the kind and brilliant Jackson Avery, fans learned months before the season premiere that Jesse Williams would be leaving the ABC drama. In his last episode, “Tradition,” Jackson will be going to Boston to run his family foundation, and Harriet and April will be coming with him.

Why did Jesse Williams Leave Grey’s Anatomy?

After more than a decade of playing the good doctor Jackson Avery to perfection, why did Jesse Williams leave the show? Do we sense on-set drama or some bad blood with the show’s runners? Far from it! It took close to a year for Jesse to let us in on why he finally left. Jesse clearly stated to Deadline how grateful he was for the opportunities and learning experiences from the network, castmates, crew, and producer Shonda Rhimes. Showrunner Krista Vernoff talked about the actor’s dedication and how much he put into playing the character, Dr. Avery. “We will miss Jackson Avery, and we will miss Jesse terribly,” she told Deadline. So far, there appears to be no bad blood between the actor and the writers.

What Next For The Green-Eyed Hunk?

What does destiny hold for the multi-talented actor? Speaking to The New York Times, Williams said he felt safe, secure, and protected on the medical drama series, and he knew his next project needed to be terrifying and out of his comfort zone. Jesse William will play the role of a man who shares his sexuality in the Broadway revival of Take Me Out. The actor also has two upcoming films. So worry not fans! We might be catching Jesse on our screens sooner than we expect!
